My Other Works

AccuChek.pdf

This is a set of instructions I compiled for my Technical Documentations course, ENG 414.  One of my favorite projects in that course, it gave me a chance to conduct user tests, learn the tricks of writing effective troubleshooting sections, and gain experience with Adobe InDesign CS3.

JustPlaying.pdf

I worked on this scholarly article for days and nights, researching, drafting, and finding inspiration among the chaos.  If there is one thing I had learned from this assignment, it is that the scholarly world is foolish not to mix their theories and principles with the research and development methods of practitioners.  Print this big guy out and give him a read sometime if you are at all interested in video games and their inherent narrative structures.

ThunderRoomRemoteAccess.pdf

In my Technical Documentation course, one of our group projects was to construct user documentation for a room which held a proprietary operating system known as Thunder.  My assignment was to instruct users how to implement the system’s remote access functionality.  What you see here is the result, spanning three feet in width and two feet in height when in print form.

China 2007 - My Summer Study Abroad

As you already know, I traveled all over Asia at an early age, and I wrote up this service report to the Freeman Foundation to show my appreciation for the scholarship money I had received for the trip.  I held a presentation in the Great Room of Miami University.  The file is quite hefty, but check it out anyway.

NPMagCover.pdf

As a final project for my introductory Photoshop course, I created this magazine cover featuring the cast of the Super Smash Bros Brawl video game for the Nintendo Wii.  I applied concepts of cropping and rotating images, and made use of the magic wand for erasing the unnecessary content between each of my characters and the edge of each image file.  Through this technique, I was able to maintain a clean cover with a seamless merge of images and text.

AmericaPhotoAlbum.pdf

If you’ve ever checked out my site, Tariq’s Adventure, you know that I am a photographer.  I created this album for my homestay family when I went to study abroad at Kansai Gaidai University, of Osaka, Japan, in 2008. The photographs in the album chronicle my trips to Alabama, Virginia, and Washington D.C. These photos were taken with a Canon EOS350D and edited with Aperture 2.0.
